The Law Enforcement Explorer Post is a group of teeanagers from ages 14 to 20 who are at least in the eighth grade who have an interest in Law Enforcement or the Military. We have meetings every second and fourth Thursday of each month at 5:00 p.m. at the Dickson Police Department Firing Range.

We train on all types of Law Enforcement and military type classes and the Explorers get a lot of hands on training. The Explorers also get to participate in different activities in the City of Dickson assisting Law Enforcement with traffic control and security.

We also have cookouts and trips throughout the year. It is a great time of learning, discipline and fellowship.

After you are an active Explorer you will be on a probationary period and you will be issued an Explorer uniform. You will not have arrest powers but you will be a Junior Officer.

If you are a teenager who may benefit from this type of training, contact Officer David Cole who is the Crime Prevention Officer for the City of Dickson Police Department at 441-9580. You can also email Officer Cole at . If you are in the school system, you can contact the School Resource Officer in that school. You will be required to fill out an application; have a background check; have an interview with Explorer Advisors and also with the active Explorers.

The cost is $16.00 per year for dues. We also host an Explorer In-Service every summer around the first couple of weeks of June.
