Residents can help Public Works identify areas that need attention with potholes, missing signs, or general concerns by calling the office or by e-mail. (See Administration...)
The city’s leaf collection effort is one of the responsibilities of the Street Department. In order to efficiently cover the entire city, the Street Department works one section of the city at a time. We plan to cover each neighborhood of the city at least three times during the collection program.
We are not able to leave a section to honor individual pickup requests since each leaf collection crew includes three employees and one vacuum machine. However, if you choose to bag your leaves, you may contact the Street Department at 615-441-9506 to have an employee pick up the bags within a few days. Only bags clearly marked biodegradable are acceptable. Please keep bags of leaves separate from household garbage.
Thank you for being patient and we’ll pick up your leaves as soon as possible.
You can help us by remembering the following tips:
The city does not landfill leaves. The City of Dickson shall in the future begin a mulching operation for leaves to be composted and mulched. This mulch will be available year-round and is free of charge from the mulching operation.
All members of this department are on call 24 hours a day, seven days a week, to respond to emergency or nuisance calls, which are normally reported through the police department. Examples of the calls to which we respond: material spills, fallen trees, ice and snow, potholes, high water, missing signs, and catastrophic events.
This program is administered by the Public Works Department. All parties considering performing any construction within the ROW or in any easements must obtain a permit and post a surety document before the work can be performed. The site is monitored before, during and after the construction process to assure the repairs will comply with our standard specifications. The Public Works Department is also responsible for the enforcement of safety standards as they apply to work zones during the construction process. The Coordinator has the authority to require the contractors to stop work if in violation of the standards established in the Manual of Uniform Traffic Control Devices and correct the situation before the contractor can resume work.
