Tennessee's law enforcement departments report information about crime to TBI through a comprehensive system, known as the Tennessee Incident Based Reporting System, or TIBRS. The data, once reviewed for accuracy by TBI, is made available to the departments and the public for review. On TNCrimeOnline.com, users can view current data and select fields to narrow down the data to specific needs. Click the link below to get started.

The Dickson Police Department believes in safety first. That is why we are a part of the SafeTrade initiative that allows for buyers and sellers to do commerce in our parking lot for no charge.
Be sure to always use common sense rules when buying or selling, even in a police department parking lot:
Agree to meet the buyer or seller of whatever you’re selling (or buying) ONLY at a police station, sheriff’s office or similar law enforcement facility.
Meet only during daylight hours, unless the police department has offered inside facilities 24 hours a day.
Meet inside the police office if possible. Many of them offer those facilities. Some require an appointment; others make their lobby or similar open-to-the-public area available.
If you cannot meet inside the lobby, meet in the parking lot. Typically, they have cameras, and a lot of police officers coming and going. It’s not as safe as indoors, but it’s much safer than the proverbial “meet in a public place.”

Police Departments across the country are learning that community participation in anti-crime programs is essential, and ne of the most effective ways to promote citizen interaction with police is the sharing of information. Citizen groups determine specific needs or problems and share this information with local police. The police then act on this information and report back to the group on their progress. This program also works when the police go to public groups and organizations and make them aware of specific criminal activities or the needs of the police department.
The Neighborhood Watch concept is designed to target specific geographical areas and assist citizens by:
Establishing an organizational structure and create an information-sharing network.
Helping introduce neighbors and create social ties that will help them work together.
Allowing police to train citizens on how to be proactive by preventing crime and how to recognize and report criminal activities.
Accessing information and assistance from police and other Government agencies that can help to improve living conditions.
Providing the community with a strong unified voice to inform community leaders of programs and actions that the “people” support.
Neighborhood Watch cannot only be utilized as a strong tool to fight crime; it is also a strong social organization. It can also be used to enact other projects such as Community Clean up, Bus Stop Safety Watch for children, locating and assisting citizens with special needs.
Neighborhood Watch is not a vigilante organization! It promotes awareness techniques and reporting crime, not physical confrontation of criminals.
“In today’s world we must learn to stand together to fight against injustice. We must recognize that CRIME and CRIMINALS are a threat to us all. Only then can we join together and stand united against the threat and only then will we notice a change.”
For more information on the Neighborhood Watch program, contact Crime Prevention Officer David Cole at 446-5403 or 441-9580.

Because crime is a community problem that affects everyone, it requires a community solution. Sir Edmond Burke once said, “The only thing necessary for evil to triumph is for good men to do nothing!” This statement couldn't be more true. Inaction in reporting a crime is the same as condoning it.
Our anonymous tipline can be used for turning in someone that may have an outstanding warrant, selling or manufacturing drugs, selling stolen goods, or for any other information that can help protect our community from criminals or criminal activity.
