APPLICATION PROCESS


  • PHASE 1: SUBMIT YOUR APPLICATION

    You may obtain an application online from this page or from our central station at 101 Church St. in Dickson. Office hours are Monday - Friday from 7am to 3pm. The application must be filled out entirely and submitted during the open application period. Incomplete or late applications will not be accepted. Please include copies of all requested supporting documentation.

  • PHASE 2: WRITTEN AND PHYSICAL AGILITY TESTING

    If your completed application is accepted, you will be invited to test for the position of firefighter. Testing involves a written test as well as a physical agility test. The written test consists of 100 multiple-choice questions to test your suitability for the fire service. The physical agility course will test your ability to perform various tasks related to the fire service as well as your overall fitness level.

  • PHASE 3: INTERVIEWS

    If you pass the written and physical agility testing, you may be invited to interview. Interviews consist of an interview panel made up of our shift captains as well as our training captain. Those who pass the first interview may be asked to interview with the chief.

  • PHASE 4: SELECTION PROCESS AND CONDITIONAL OFFER

    After all of the interviews have been completed, a list of suitable candidates will be compiled. Depending on the current needs of the department, conditional offers may be made to a select number of candidates. Once the conditional offer has been made, background checks and drug testing must be completed.
